There is one bath (shower only), an outdoor shower (in the warmer months), indoor fireplace, outdoor firepit, full kitchen, large and small weber grill, wifi, 40" flat screen for DVD's and netflix movies (but no cable). There is a reading and tv room with a gorgeous views of the lake for those lazy days. SPRING, SUMMER, FALL: Lots of lakes, rivers and mountains to hike to and explore, or take advantage of our incredible location directly on the best kayaking spot. Kayak 10 minutes to the right to Lake Piseco where you can dock your kayak on one of the small islands and enjoy a swim in the clear water with sandy bottom of Lake Piseco. If you are an experienced kayaker, 30 minutes to the left of us is remote Big Bay Lake - this may require a carry over some rocks dependent on level of water at the time (level changes daily). The Boathouse provides very easy access to the 4 kayaks, one canoe and lake floats, so no need to carry them anywhere. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, but is amazing for kayaking and seeing fish and wildlife watching. We kayak 10 minutes to Lake Piseco for swimming. Boats available May 15-Oct 30 only. WINTER Being inside this cabin in winter is like being inside a snow globe during a snow storm - it's all windows, is a beautiful site. A unique feature of this location is that the lake out front does not freeze (it's moving water), so there are water views and active wildlife year round. Terrific winter hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling and some downhill skiing in this area. We supply a list of local hikes, restaurants and other attractions. An all wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate the woodsy driveway in snow season. The other option is to park at end of driveway and walk in. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN This is a no parties, no smoking, no pets, allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited septic and well capacity, so we have a strict 4 person limit on the property at all times. We do our best to keep a pristine and very comfortable, clean home for our guests, we are sure even the most discerning travelers will be very happy here. This is an exceptionally private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet (where we are) from Piseco Lake, and you can hear (but can't see) the cars going over the bridge, which is the only thing we would change if we could. Our minimum stay varies throughout the year...please send exact dates and we will let you know the policy for that time of year. Everything except one owners cabinet and use of the boathouse is limited to May 15-Oct 30. We are available via email and have a local house manager who can assist while there if needed.
Hamilton County was officially designated "Frontier Land" by the Federal Government due to it's vast wilderness and sparse population. It is stunningly beautiful in all seasons with great outdoor exploration opportunities. Piseco has limited entertainment venues - just stunning outdoor beauty, lakes, rivers and mountains. Speculator has shops, grocery, restaurants and is 15 minute drive - still limited however. No public transport, must have car. Best to have all wheel vehicle in winter to navigate our woodsy driveway - it's plowed regularly - but we are in the woods. This is for independent travelers who are excited about privacy, but willing to be a bit self sufficient if something comes up. We are not local. The cabin is in the woods, in the heart of the Adirondacks, stuff happens. We have a local house manager, a housekeeper and professionals (electricians, plumbers etc) who can assist. Be aware that in Winter - it's stunningly gorgeous - but the weather and property conditions vary. We plow regularly - but even after a plow the driveway can be tricky, possibly requiring you to walk in (happened once winter 2014). We supply shovels, sand, salt so you can help yourself after a storm. So if you are expecting a guarantee of zero hassles/challenges this may not be the property for you. We do have a (very expensive!) generator, so during the occasional power outages that happen in the ADK's, you will not go without power. Our housekeeper works Mondays and Fridays in spring, summer and fall, so rentals must begin and end on one of those days. Winter is a little more flexible, please ask. This is a back to nature experience, in an exceptionally comfortable cabin. Lots of hiking and outdoorsy stuff
to do here, or simply stay inside and enjoy the view! We supply many things most rentals do not, such as spices, napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap, tin foil, washer detergent, sponges, honey, sugar, blender, crockpot, teapot and more - we try to supply those things you'd have at home but wouldn't necessarily think to shop for. It's our goal to make this an exceptional, easy and breezy experience for all our guests!
As soon as we opened the door, it felt like home. The cabin had beautiful finishes and a fantastic layout. The open concept space was great, everything was clean, and a very comfortable bed at the end of the day. It was the perfect honeymoon spot that we would love to re-visit. The views were private and it provided to be a very restful week! Thanks again!Sarah May 2015
The cabin and neighborhood is beautiful. I loved my time spent in Piseco. We kayaked despite the rain and it was absolutely stunning and we met a beaver, ducks, and deer. If you get a chance an hour to the east on route 8 you can get to Nettle Meadow farms which has life changing goat cheeses. Our only two problems were the beds and speakers. The beds are both full size, not queen, and my boyfriend and I honestly couldn't stand sleeping in the same bed after the first night. It was very cramped for two tall people who are used to sleeping in a queen sized bed. We slept in separate beds for the next two nights which we honestly found funny. Not a major concern on our trip, but valuable for folks to know. I wouldn't have guessed previous to this that a full size bed would feel so small (I haven't slept in one in years (and I slept in it alone). The only other problem was not major either, but we had been looking forward to uses the speakers for music and they did not work even tolerably well. The sound was like white noise. My boyfriend is very tech savvy and tried a few different things and ways of connecting the iPhone and it didn't work.TalenaOctober 2013

Quiet. It's just so quiet. We drove up to the PIseco Cabin, got out of the truck, and just stood in the quiet. It was beautiful. The cabin is in immaculate condition, and extremely well cared for. It's obvious that Maura and David take great pride in their property and homes. We spent our days lounging on the sofas, taking in the amazing view of the lake, or cooking a delicious meal and enjoying it outside listening to the sound of the wind move through the trees. At night we would have a glass of wine or scotch by the fireplace, watch a movie in the cozy tv room, or lay out under the stars. Do you need a place to get away from people, sounds, and stress? Piseco cabin is it. There's lots of hiking, canoeing/kayaking in the lake, bird watching, and other activities nearby, but we didn't do any of that. We just savored the privacy and quiet.LandonApril 2014
Our stay at Maura's house was absolutely fantastic. We loved every minute of it, even with all this rain! The house is cozy, with wonderful views on a small lake. We went kayaking many times and enjoyed the peace and the sound of the birds. Thanks for this great house you have.AnaïsMay 2014
A very beautiful nicely furnished cabin on a stunning winter lake that was partially frozen over. Be prepared as there is no amenities for at least a 20 minute drive which was what we were looking for but I assume could be hard for some. I'd suggest bringing everything you might need in the winter even basics like coffee and such as the cabin is nicely stocked with utincels but little else.Green January 2017
My boyfriend and I stayed at Maura's for 5 days and we highly recommend it!! The house itself is impeccably clean, cozy, and well thought out (Netflix set up, binoculars, telescope, & every cooking utensil/appliance you may need). We came fully prepared with food/drinks because we planned to stay in and cook all meals, which I'm happy that we did because the house is nestled in the woods and the closest town I believe is 30-40 mins away. The drive up to the house is gorgeous, winding roads of snow covered trees. Once you get to the house and open the front door your view out of the living room is 180 degree view of a beautiful lake, without a neighbor in sight. We definitely recommend Maura's for a romantic quiet getaway and plan to visit again someday!ErikaFebruary 2017
Thank you for a wonderful stay! We hardly left the cabin all weekend and there is really no reason to. With Windows looking out over the water we felt perfectly content staying cozy inside all day. The cabin is in perfect condition and very clean. The TV nook is a perfect place to spend the afternoon when it is rainy and cold out. We cooked, lounged, read, and explored the area a bit. We had a great weekend! Thank you!MarinaOctober 2015
